Zachary L. Bercu, MD RPVI, is Associate Professor of Radiology in the Division of Interventional Radiology and Image-Guided Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine (Emory) and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institution of Technology (Georgia Tech). He is Program Director for both the IR-Integrated and IR-Independent residency programs at Emory and Co-Director of the Medical Innovation Track (a 2-year program to teach innovation and biodesign skills to medical residents from both Emory University and the Morehouse School of Medicine). He completed residency in Diagnostic Radiology and Fellowship in Vascular & Interventional Radiology at the Icahn SChool of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.
His clinical areas of expertise include: interventional oncology (including locoregional therapies such as Yttrium-90 radioembolization and chemoembolization), reproductive health interventions (including prostate artery embolization), complex venous disease, venous sampling, and pain and palliation therapies. Research activities have included percutanous and endovascular image-guided medicine robotics, advanced image-guidance techniques, interventional oncology, prostate interventions, and workflow optimization.
