Dr. Shanie Shemla, M.D., was born and raised in Israel and received her medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel-Aviv University. She completed her surgical internship at Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, Israel, where she graduated with honors. During that time Dr. Shemla also served as the General Surgery Resident-Assistant Program Manager. Following her internship, Dr. Shemla joined the General Surgery residency program at Montefiore Medical Center in New York as a visiting resident, during her second and third postgraduate years. Dr. Shemla is currently contributing to research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York as a Surgical Oncology Research Fellow, under the gastric and mixed tumor service. Her research interests include melanoma and soft-tissue sarcoma, focusing on the advancement of targeted and emerging therapy options, aiming to improve patient outcomes
