Graduated from medical The University of Tokyo, Faculty of Medicine in 1984. After surgical residency, obtained the Ph.D degree in 1993.
From 1994 to 1997, he worked as postdoctoral fellow in Harvard Medical School, Center for Blood Research.
Associate professor and a chief of upper gastrointestinal tract surgery in Department of Surgical Oncology, University of Tokyo in 2008
Professor in Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Jichi Medical University
His main clinical work is the treatment of peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer.
